Farewell Friday #5

Evening!

Quite a late Farewell Friday this week, as I have literally just finished it!

As you may know (I mention it alot!), The Little Bubble Co bath and shower gel are my Holy Grail bath products!

This vanilla biscuit fragrance is one of my faves, along with Ginger Bread and Mint Candy. It's a really sweet, almost milky vanilla scent, It's absolutely heavenly!

These can be used as body wash and bubble bath. I often find that products that are supposedly multi purpose don't work very well, but these are beautiful either way. Used as a bubble bath, it  creates mounds of fragrant foam, and as a shower gel it lathers really easily, and leaves skin feel smooth and moisturised. 

The scent lasts on the skin, but isn't strong enough to affect any perfumes or body lotions put on after.

These 500ml bottles last aaages, and are only £2.99 from Boots, and are often on offer for £2. Bargain!

I'm sad to have finished a bottle, but as you can see, I've got one and bit left over! I always have back ups of these around :)

For this Wednesday Wants, I have gone a little bit shoe crazy! 
I'm not really a sandal/flip flop girl (although I am quite partial to an espadrille!), 
so my spring/summer shoes of choice tend to be ballet flats.

Now the last three aren't very sensible, as I never wear heels, but they look amazing! I love the style of the Jeffrey Campbell Lita's, but couldn't justify the price. I'm really tempted to get some, just in case I ever do get the urge to wear heels! 

The Zara flats are amazing, I saw them on the lovely Neeny from Neeny's wishlist (she has amazing style). I've worn my Topshop Vectra's to death, and I think these would be perfect to replace them. 

All the Missguided flats are so nice, and I think the prices are great! They're all fake suede as well, so animal friendly.  

Anyone bought any shoes from Missguided? Are they good quality?

This is the first time I've worn eyeshadow in the day time in aaages! I gave in to temptation and bought the MUA Heaven and Earth pallette, after spending ages gazing at the one I bought for my giveaway haha!
These pics were taken at the end of the day, after lots of sweating and running about, so I think the eyeshadow has held up pretty well! I'm impressed with how well they've lasted, at £4 for the pallette!

Anyways, It's way past my bedtime, so I'm off!

About 5 months ago :) I'd been following blogs and youtube videos for a while, and always really enjoyed them. Most of my friends and family aren't really into beauty, so I started a blog so that I'd have somewhere to ramble about all things makeup and skincare! 

2. What's your favourite beauty tip?

Going around the edges of lipstick with concealer to make it look sharper and more precise.

3. If someone gave you £500 what would you buy?

Ooh tough! I'd start with a Clarisonic Mia, then I'd get my hair done! I've been waiting aaaages to finally go ginger, so I'd do that :) Any money left over, and I'd go shopping for summery dresses!

Aston from JLS! He's my biggest crush ever, and I'm not remotely embarrassed about that!

5. What's the most expensive beauty product you have bought?

I don't really have anything that expensive, so probably my Bobbi Brown foundation stick, which is around £25 :)

MAC Ruby woo lippy.

Hmm I'd like to go to Paris again, and really take advantage of the shops!

Probably Boots, because they have higher and lower end stuff. Debenhams is always good for MAC though!

Farewell Friday #4

Afternoon everyone! :)

What a lovely day! Hope it's as nice and sunny where you are, I can't believe the weathers like this and it's only March!

The other day I finished a product, so thought I'd do a Farewell Friday about it.

The product in question is TRESemme Split Remedy Leave In Treatment.

I bought this from Boots around 4 months ago, when I started on my hair serum/treatment obsession. 

This product claims to "restore moisture and softness,instantly leaving your hair smoother. The unique formula, with Reconstructing Complex, actually mends split ends and, with continued use, protects the health of your hair by repairing further damage as it occurs."

Now, personally I hate it when brands talk about things like 'reconstructing complex', because what does that actually mean?! Fair enough when it's something like 'contains argan oil', because we know what that is, it actually means something, and we can research it if we want more info. But what on earth is a 'reconstructing complex' when it's at home?!

Anyway, rant over! Annoying made up ingredient aside, this is a pretty nice product.

This product is designed to be used after shampooing and conditioning. You apply to mid, to ends when wet, and then dry it. You can also apply a small amount to dry ends.

PROS:

• Smells nice
• Easy to use, and you don't need much, meaning it lasts a while
• Leaves hair smooth, sleek and soft
• When left on dry hair overnight, it sinks in and leaves hair in great condition, but doesn't look greasy the next day

CONS:

• Can leave hair feeling a bit sticky if you use too much
• Didn't make any difference to my split ends
• Once you get near the end, it gets tricky to get all the product out, so I had to cut open the bottle!

Now, to be honest, I didn't expect it to make much difference to my split ends. Not only can I not see how a product can actually 'fix' them, but my split ends are pretty extreme!

My fave way to use this was overnight, on dry ends. I used this pretty much every night, and found that when I woke up the next day, my hair was smooth, less brittle/dry, and really soft. My ends didn't look greasy at all, and it didn't feel like there was any product left there. 

So, all in all, a great serum to relieve dry, brittle ends, but I'm not entirely sold on the split end mending claims!

Would I repurchase? Yes, definitely. It's not as good as this Lee Stafford one, but it's much better value for money, and is a fab everyday product.

Wednesday wants #8

Morning guys! :)
For this Wednesday Wants, I thought I'd attempt to do it through Polyvore! It is a first attempt, so I know it's a bit rubbish, but practice makes perfect ay!

Okay so the last one is definitely a 'when I win the lottery' purchase, but a girl can dream! I'm so into fruit prints, and the shape of the dress is really nice and easy to wear. 

The lace dress is very pretty, and I'm love with mint shades at the moment. The striped shirt and ring pack are possible purchases, they're just so cool!

The blusher is pretty, you can never have too many coral blushes, and I haven't tried anything from Illamasqua yet.

I'm not entirely sure why I'd need a teal lipstick, but it looks amazing in the promo pics and video which you can see here.

Anyone got any of these things? Or own a teal lippy?!

What's In My Bag :)

Morning everyone :)

I love watching on youtube, and reading posts about what people have in their bags, probably because I'm nosey! As I enjoy them so much, thought I'd do my own.

This is my bag. It's from River Island, and I've used it non stop for about two years. The main reason I love it so much, is that it's massive, and I like to carry around pretty much everything I own!

I love the look of fur bags, and I thought the studded handle and gold twisty lock thing (technical term!) were really nice.

So, on to the contents of the bag! There was a tonne of crumpled paper, receipts, wrappers and loose change, so I did remove all that first!

First up, my makeup bag. Think I'll do a separate post on what's in there cus there's loads! It's a Hello Kitty and Liberty Of London one I got from Boots at Christmas :)

Next, I've got a few essentials! A book, incase I have to wait around anywhere or get bored, my purse (Dorothy Perkins), keys and an umbrella. The book is okay, but it's quite hard to get in to!

The umbrella comes out with me no matter what the weather, because I am certain that the one day I forget it, it will tip down!

I carry numerous packets of tissues, especially now it's hayfever season! A packet of paracetamol incase of any pains (although this packet is actually empty, why am I carrying it around?!), a small 'can' of sour cherry sherbert, and some chewing gum! The chewing gum is new, by Mentos and you get two flavours in every packet! There's different quotes on every packet, which I think is a cute touch! Because they're only a pound at ASDA now, I've stocked up :)

Natural collecton vanilla body spray is my every day scent, and I take it everywhere with me. I've also got a Nature's Way hand cream, H&m/Disney hairbrush and mirror, Viva La Juicy roll on, and some hairbands. I usually wear my hair down, but I like to have it up if I'm concentrating, or if it's hot!

So there ya have it! The random assortment of bits and bobs I take around with me :) Hope this post wasn't too boring, I just felt like doing something a bit different!

Review- Good Things Stop That Spot! Clearing Gel

Good afternoon! 

Firstly, Happy Mothers Day everyone! Hope you all have a nice, relaxing Sunday :)

As some of you may know, I have quite bad skin. It's not as bad as it was a few years ago, and it's not really much of a big deal to me now, but I do tend to always have a few spots on the go, and have lots of scarring from previous spots. 

Because of this, I am always searching for an amazing spot cream. I want one that will get rid of spots, stop spots from appearing, and help fade my scarring...not too much to ask, is it?

I picked up this gel from Boots, just over a month ago, for about a fiver. I'd heard good things about Good Things as a brand, and thought £5 was quite reasonable. 

What I noticed first about this gel, was the smell. Although not an unpleasant smell, (it's just fruity really), it is so, so strong, and quite alcohol-y. I have looked into the ingredients, and it does include alcohol denat.,so maybe that is the reason?

Anyway, it's a strong, fruity scent. I dont tend to like putting strong smelling products on my face, but I perservered with this for the purposes of review! 

In terms of spot clearing, I haven't noticed any major improvements. (It should be noted though, that I've tried numerous spot creams, and none of them have really worked wonders!)

I've used this nearly every night, and most mornings before putting on my makeup. Under makeup, this product works well. It doesn't ball up or peel, or affect the makeup that goes on after it.

It sinks in quickly, leaves skin smooth and the smell doesn't last long. 

Most spot creams dry out my skin, as I tend to be on the dry side anyway, but this one doesn't. 

After about a month of use, the spot clearing gel is running out. There's still a little bit  left, but it's definitely on it's last legs! I've found I now come to look forward to the smell, and the fact that it doesn't dry my skin out.

 

Pros:
Smells quite nice once you're used to it.
Doesn't dry out skin
Works well under makeup

Veggie/vegan

Free from Parabens, animal ingredients and other nasty things

Cons:
Runs out quite quickly
Didn't make much of a difference to my skin
Seems quite pricey at £5 for 15ml. Maybe that's just me being a cheapskate!

Such a strong scent for those who don't like scented products!

So, all in all, I liked this spot cream, but I probably wouldn't buy it again, just because it didn't make much difference to my spots. It is one of the only spot creams I've found that doesn't ball up under foundation though, so I've got to give it some credit for that! Judging by the size, and by how quickly I've gotten through this, I would say this is more suited to someone who only gets an odd spot, and doesn't want to plaster it on their face like I do!

Would I recommend this product? Yes. To people who don't mind strongly scented products, and who only get occassional spots.

Would I repurchase? Probably not, unless it was a really good deal/price, or I needed a spot cream just for under my foundation, not at night. 

Anyone else tried this? Get on with it better than me?

My much loved MAC Ruby Woo is on it's last legs, so I'm trying to use my other lipsticks and save my fave lippy for special occassions. Vegas Volt is a lipstick I often overlook as I'm never sure if I can pull it off with my hair colour. 

It's such a nice summery colour though, that I decided to be brave and wear it, even if I did get a few funny looks! It's alot more orange than it's showing in the pics, the flash seems to have made it more pink looking.

I wasn't doing anything special, so the outfit was pretty casual. I love the cape thing, but it's a total nightmare! It doesn't look it, but there's loads of buttons, and it always takes me ages to work out how to button it correctly! I'm so happy I found my little green apple earrings, I love them so much :)

I also tried something new with my hair. I love how other people manage to achieve the perfect, messy, big buns (ooer), whereas mine always end up more like topknots. I watched a few vids on how to do them with the method of rolling strands of hair and pinning them in a circle around a pony tail. That's a really bad explanation, I hope you know what I mean! I really liked the look, my friend said I looked like Audrey Hepburn with the hairstyle, and that's always nice!

I'm sure you're not really interested in pics of my hair, but I'm really proud!

Wednesday Wants #7

Evening! :)

This week, I have been attracted to all things pastel!

Firstly, this beautiful blazer from New Look! If my memory serves me right (which it doesn't always!), this is a bit brighter in real life. It's made of a really soft, light material, which I think would make it perfect for spring days, when it's not as warm as it looks, and summer evenings.

I think I would prefer it if it was a little bit longer though. I've seen a few people posting about a Primark version which looks a bit longer, so I may check that out aswell!

This blazer is £22.99 from New Look, and comes in some other lovely colours, I particularly like Apricot!

 

Secondly, this beauty, again from New Look! Who knew I loved that shop so much ay? I like dresses, I like pastels. This dress is a winner for me! It looks floaty enough to keep me cool in the summer, but it isn't majorly revealing or anything! This is £34.99 from New look.com.

Lastly is a bit of a plea for help! The picture above represents the sun, and I want sun protection! I'm a bit rubbish when it comes to sun protection, but I've decided to change that! Not only is it dangerous, but I like my pale skin! And I don't want to be burnt, or tanned! (Although obviously tans look lovely on other people!)

So, basically, I'm looking for a face sun protection, that wont make me all shiny. I like to wear factor 50 on my body, and would love something as near as possible to that on my face. I find when I use normal sun tan lotion on my face, even if I get it about an hour to sink in, it still makes my face all gross and shiny! So, does anyone know of any?! Thanks for advance!

FOTD- Wild Orchid

Hallo guys!

I wore a new lipstick today, and thought it deserved a Face Of The Day post!

I'd originally bought the lippy for a night out, but then got too scared to wear it! Red lipstick is such a security blanket to me, I need to branch out more often!

Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick 457 Wild Orchid

So, it's not showing up well, but this lipstick is pretty bright! I kept the rest of my makeup quite subtle, and let the lips do the talking!

The colour is a bright fuschia pink, with purple/blue undertones. It's a Pearl formula, so it's got quite a sheen, which isn't a finish I tend to like, but I think it works really well with this colour.

I applied, blotted and added some Lipcote, then re-applied. I found this gave me a good four hours wear before I needed to top up the colour. I've been so impressed with every Revlon lipstick I've tried! I think this  may be my summer lippy :)

 

Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks are £7.49 (now on offer at two for a tenner! Bargain!) from Boots.com.

Anyone else tried this? Or have any recommendations for Revlon lippys I should try?

NOTD- Spring Has Sprung!

Bonjour!

Thought I'd do a little post on the nails I am sporting at the mo because I love them!

I used these fake nails, with this glue. I'm not entirely sold on the glue, but it is better than the glue that comes with the nails! They do tend to fly off every now and again though, when I pull door handles or unclick my seatbelt! Anyone got any good glue recommendations?

Anyway! On to the nails:)

 I did these the other day when it was all sunny and nice, but the weather has been mad since! One minute it's freezing and icy, then tipping down, next thing you know its blue skies and fluffy clouds! I used Barry M Peach Melba, and Topshops Minted, which is my new fave!

I'm hoping that my nails will make summer come quicker, fingers crossed ay!

Wednesday Wants #6

Aloha guys!

Here's a few more bits that I am itching to get my grubby little hands on!

First up, this Mineral Foundation from Lilylolo.co.uk. I've heard so many good things about mineral foundation- that it gives a flawless, builable coverage, but also lets skin breathe and doesn't cause spots. This is the perfect price for me to dip my toe into the mineral foundation idea, at £12.49 from Lilylolo.co.uk.

This foundation also comes in an impressive 18 shades, with the palest actually looking pretty pale! Lily Lolo is a BUAV approved, cruelty free brand.  Thumbs up.

Next up, the Lush lip scrub Mint Julips. As you may already know, I have used (and loved) this before. My lips are really dry and gross at the moment, and it's showing up really badly under my lipstick! When I was using this, my lips were always silky smooth! As I am on my spending ban, I am not letting myself buy this! I am thinking of making my own version with things I've already got? Apparently all you need is sugar and honey! Yum.

Lastly, the Real Techniques Core Collection. After being so impressed with the Real Techniques Stippling brush that I bought (post coming soon!) I'm really wanting to branch out and try more from the range! I've heard really great reviews about the buffing brush, which is the furthest right brush. Pretty much every review I have read has said that it is fantastic at buffing in foundation, and I wanna try! 

The Real Techniques Core Collection is £21.99 (bargain for four brushes!), and is available from Boots.com and in store.

FOTN/OOTN

Hey :)

Thought I'd do a quick face and outfit of the night. On Saturday night me and some friends went out for a few (dozen) drinks and a bit of a boogie :) Lots of fun was had, I'm not going out for a while now so that I can save some dosh to have my hair dyed, so it was a really good last night out.

I cannot pose, ignore my face!

 

Pretty boring outfit, but polka dots are always a winner in my eyes!

My dress is from New Look, and I love it so much, I went back and bought it in a red colour too! It's not on the website to link to, but I think it was around £12.

I also didn't take pictures of my shoes or bag, what was wrong with my brain that night?! I wore my red, pointy Office shoes that I always wear, theres a pic in this post if you're particularly interested ;)

Haven't seen many people talking about the topshop blush in Powdered, but it's really lovely. A proper bright, Barbie pink which I bought accidently, and never thought I'd use, but I love it!
